Like most writers, I am also writing a book- the pace is remarkably slow but I am writing it, so expect it on book shelves definitely within the next ten years. It is a children’s fantasy book based in our world but on things that we, as humans, are completely unaware of. Below I’ve put the prologue, just in case you’re curious, or a book publisher, either way let me know what you think.
Have you ever had a thought just slip your mind? Or forget what you wanted to say? Or walked into a room and suddenly forget what it is you went in for? Well there is a very simple explanation for these things; it was us.
We are thought seekers. We live alongside you humans on Earth. However, we are a lot smaller than you and move a whole lot faster. Also, and please don’t take offence to this, but we are far more magical than you. In fact, humans are pretty much the least magical species I have ever come across. Most things on Earth possess at least one magical power but to you humans it’s like magic doesn’t even exist. It’s quite sad really. But anyway, that’s enough about you, back to us.
We are powered by human thoughts. Our whole species all over the world is kept alive by out harnessing energy from your thoughts. Normally we act so fast that we can remove the thought, harness its energy and return it to you without you noticing. But, if it is a young seeker, or something goes wrong with our tools, this is when you find you’ve lost your train of thought etc… It is 100% our fault and so, apologies. Why only your thoughts? Well, as much as it pains me to say this you are the most “intelligent” species we have ever encountered on Earth, so your thoughts provide the most amount of energy. You see different thoughts contain different amounts of energy; completely original thoughts are the most powerful. Children tend to be the best for these.
We can live almost anywhere in our individual tribes. Some tribes live in the clouds (the sky seekers), some in the ocean (the sea seekers). I am a land based seeker. We are referred to as stone seekers as we choose to primarily reside in stones. Our numbers have grown substantially in recent years though so we tend to live in large rocks as opposed to pebbles or beach stones like our ancestors. I live in the standing stones of Newgrange on the Celtic Island of Ireland. These stones have a long history and have proven the perfect place for my tribe to live.
Forgive me, I have not yet introduced myself. I am Nyx, the leader of my tribe. Myself and my brother, Kalen, took over leadership when my father stepped down recently after quite a dramatic turn of events. It all began about six months ago our time (about 2 days for you). Our whole species fell into complete crisis.
